Description
This latch is designed f or applications where a higher deg ree of compression is desired. The latch is installed b y riveting the escutcheon to the door fr ame . If the hinges are on the left side of the door as you face it, and the latch on the right side , the escutcheon should be riveted so that the words “ top right ” appear above the latch handle . Where the latch is on the left side of the door , the escutcheon should be rotated so that the words “ top left ” appear above the latch.
The first quarter turn of the latch engages the flange, and dur ing the next quarter turn not only does the bevel on the flange impart compression amounting to 5/32″, but a stud on the latch handle works against a cam in the latch barrel pulling in the str ik er another 1/8″. Total compression of over 1/4″ is pro vided b y this latch. In order that the f orce of the compression imparted by this latch is not concentrated in just one spot, the escutcheon has been made with a base measur ing 3″ X 1 1/4″. The 3/8″ stud on this latch is long enough to accommodate an insulated door up to 2″ thick. The 333 is made of a rustproof alloy of zinc and aluminum.
